THE COYWOLVES
Standing proudly on either side of the shield are two coywolves. A hybrid descended from coyotes, wolves, and dogs, they uniquely thrive in both urban and rural settings, symbolizing adaptability, resilience, and the blending of different heritages. This mirrors the diverse and dynamic community that supports CT United FC. These animals, indigenous to the region, are known for their intelligence and resourcefulness—traits that the team embodies both on and off the field.
The two coywolves symbolize unity and teamwork, essential qualities for the club's success. Though connected, these creatures face away from each other, embodying a unique blend of reflection and vision: one looks back on Connecticut’s proud past, while the other gazes forward to its bright future. This duality captures the team’s respect for heritage and its commitment to forging a path ahead.
The coywolves’ intertwined tails further emphasize this theme of unity. Forming a figure 8, signifying the strength of Connecticut drawn from its eight counties, the tails are a visual representation of both teamwork and cooperation (the number “8” is echoed in the eight legs). Just as the tails are inseparable, so too is the bond among the players, coaches, and supporters of CT United FC. This interconnectedness is the foundation upon which the team draws strength and inspiration to achieve victory.
THE CHARTER OAK LEAF
At the heart of the crest are three charter oak leaves, representing the Charter Oak, a revered symbol of the state's resilience and determination. In 1687, the Royal Charter of Connecticut was famously hidden within the hollow of the Charter Oak to prevent its confiscation by the British. Oriented upward and centered within the crest are eight pathways, each representing one of Connecticut’s counties: Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland, and Windham.
